About

Emily Watson Howes is a writer, director and performer working in radio, television and theatre. She is the sole writer for The Umbrella Birds, a four woman sketch comedy group, and most recently wrote and recorded The Ladies, a four part series for Hat Trick and BBC Radio 4. Emily is also the Artistic Director of ‘You Need Me’, a multinational storytelling theatre company whose work has been nominated for both Total Theatre and Stage awards and gained widespread recognition in the national press. The company are currently developing new work with the BAC, and toured the UK with How It Ended in 2009.

In addition to running The Umbrella Birds and You Need Me, Emily writes and performs on her own, with recent acting credits including The Nearside for BBC Radio 4.
