City Hospital is a daily reality series that was transmitted live and direct from the wards, clinics and operating theatres of one of Europe’s busiest city hospitals, Guy’s and St Thomas’ in the heart of London.

The programme gives a fascinating insight into hospital life, sharing the highs and lows of patients and staff. It is informative about the wide variety of medical problems and conditions faced by families everywhere, taking some of the fear and mystery out of everything from simple procedures to lifesaving surgery.

Over the series all different aspects are covered from nosebleeds to neuro-surgery and from the real-life drama of babies born live on air to the range of emergencies brought into Accident and Emergency.

With eighteen series produced, City Hospital is one of the longest running formats and was the first of its kind, winning a Royal Television Society Award for innovation.
